Dear Readers,

We are glad to inform You that the application of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library made for the 'Knowledge Repository Express' competition won the sum of HUF 95.930.570 within the framework of Social Renewal Operational Programme.

The title of the application was: "Aligned development of library services and the arrangement of program series being made in the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library to spread reading culture and digital literacy."

Some words about the project:

In the course of realisation, the online catalogue and the whole website were renewed and reshaped structurally implementing Web2.0 applications.
Gradual improvement of the library services was (and is) made along with the development of information technology (IT). Actually, the information sources and library services have been integrated on a common surface. The information has been delivered according to the requirements of various user strata and demands of all kinds. The portal contains interactive educational material to help readers in efficient library use.
In addition, new ways of online exchange of information and interactive games have been implemented. Users can contribute to the development of our website.

Our readers are able to renew their membership online and they can download certain digital contents (available in our library holdings) from home.

One of our main tasks / goals is to contribute to the development of reading culture of youth. (In 2010, two campaigns were arranged.)
Besides that, some educational programmes related to knowledge in media were organised.
We would like to develop and enhance our library services with special regards to handicapped people.
